At Baytown, we’re thrilled to personally welcome our new hires and introduce them to everything our City has to offer. Through a two-day, small-group orientation, we connect face-to-face with our new team members and introduce them to leaders throughout the organization.
On Day 1, new hires get to experience a city-wide tour and learn about the incredible benefits and programs we provide to support our team.
Day 2 dives into Core Conversations, an interactive course focused on fostering connection and building meaningful relationships within our organization. We emphasize celebrating our shared values while embracing our unique perspectives, strengthening our team, and building a Better Baytown.

PIPE Academy empowers our employees with essential tools not only for process improvement but also for personal growth. Our courses cover key areas, including emotional intelligence, change management, and cultural fluency. Building leaders through the Manager Series
Our Manager Series is a multi-level program that covers essential management skills like coaching, performance management, and team-building in a supportive environment. After completing the first two levels, participants can join our monthly Community of Practice, an ongoing opportunity to refine and strengthen their skills.

We encourage continuing education
We’re committed to helping employees advance their careers through our Tuition Assistance Program, available to full-time employees who have served with the City of Baytown for at least one year. This funding supports job-related degrees and courses through accredited institutions and approved programs, enabling our team to grow and enhance their skills.
